Pond Log for September 2009

September 2009
Sept. 1, 2009 - Added three Muck Defense tabs.  Added three scoops of Koi Clay. (Week #2, Treatment #2)  The water temperature is 66 degrees.

Sept. 2, 2009 - Scrubbed the algae off the waterfall rock.  Tested water with a 5 test strip, all areas were in the good range.

Sept. 4, 2009 - Cleaned off the pond light lenses.  Added three scoops of Koi Clay. (Week #2, Treatment #3) Started giving MicrobLift fall food.

Sept. 6, 2009 - Did a 5 - 10% water change.  Cleaned out skimmer pads.  Added 8oz of MicrobLift PL.  At 8:30 pm I noticed the water level was very low.  The barley bail I had in the second filter barrel had blocked the outlet and water over-flowed.  Removed the barley bail and did a refill.  So as a result, we actual did a 10 - 20% water change.  Added more MicrobLift PL near the waterfall.

Sept. 7, 2009  - Added three scoops of Koi Clay. (Week #3, Treatment #1) Ordered a de-icer and a fall/winter MicrobLift pond kit to help winterizing the pond from 123Ponds.com.

Sept. 9, 2009 - Added three scoops of Koi Clay. (Week #3, Treatment #2) Scrubbed the algae off the waterfall rock.

Sept. 11, 2009 - Added three scoops of Koi Clay. (Week #3, Treatment #3) Added 8oz of fall/winter MicrobLift (P.U.) Fed the koi wheat germ food.  Cleaned algae off the waterfall rock.

Sept. 12, 2009 - Today is my 50th birthday; my entire family surprised me at my home, including my father, sisters, and my brother-in-law's family members.  Danielle showed up around noon and really took me by surprise.  We had a GREAT day!  Thank you all!

Sept. 13, 2009 - 5 - 10% water change.  Rinsed out the skimmer pads.  Added two caps of Aqua One.  Added three scoops of Koi Clay now on a weekly basis.

* Started to notice a lot of string algae growing.  Don't know why, but it is growing fast.

Sept. 15, 2009 - Added 10 scoops of Koi Clay in a 5 gallon bucket filled with water.  Put the mixture into the falls side of the pond at 8:40 pm.  The water turned grey.

Sept. 16, 2009 - Scrubbed algae off the waterfall rock.

Sept. 17, 2009 - Added another 10 scoops of Koi Clay in a 5 gallon bucket.

Sept. 18, 2009 - Cleaned algae off the pond lights.

Sept. 20, 2009 - Cleaned skimmer pads and added 8oz of MicrobLift PL.

Sept. 23, 2009 - Put down two lily plants.  Put in two packs of MicrobLift fall/winter.  Added 15 scoops of Koi Clay in a 5 gallon bucket.  Scrubbed algae off the waterfall rock.

Sept. 24, 2009 - The water temperature today is 68 degrees.  Did a water 5 test strip and all levels are okay.

Sept. 25, 2009 - Cleaned out the skimmer filter pads.  Cleaned off the pond lights.  Added 8oz of MicrobLift fall/winter #2 packet.

Sept. 27, 2009 - Took down the two solar shades today and packed them away in a blue tub and stored them in the garage under the Apollo 13 dudes.  Took the dwarf palm out of the water and took it to the flower shop to have it stored for the winter.

Sept. 28, 2009 - The water temperature today is 60 degrees.
